Four Reasons Why Jesus Is Our Great High Priest
Four Reasons Why Jesus Is Our Great High Priest
A gospel minister named William Willimon recounts his encounter he had with a dying woman:She was in the last stages of lung cancer, desperately gasping for air with each breath. It was obvious she was in great pain and exhausted from fighting. She tightly clutched a crucifix. Years ago as a young girl her grandmother gave her thatcrucifix. It had been carved by a monk in Europe. It was a symbol of all that represented her Catholic faith.Mr. Willimon recalled, ”When I entered the room that afternoon, I could see she was very near the end.”"Would you like me to pray for you?" he asked. "Would you like me to summon a priest?"With her last ounce of energy, she held out the crucifix toward me, which depicted the body of Christ nailed to the cross. She said, " No, thank you—I have a Priest."
The Church Family
God never called us to travel life alone. From the beginning, He saw that "it is not good for man to be alone" (Genesis 2:18). Being connected to one another allows us to "teach one another" (Colossians 3:16), "serve one another" (Galations 5:13), "encourage one another" (Hebrews 10:25), and most importantly, "pray for each other" (James 5:16)
"For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body - Jews or Greeks, slaves or free - and all were made to drink of one Spirit. For the body does not consist of one member but of many." (1 Corinthians 12:12-14)
