A lady who worked at a children’s summer camp tells this story. She said, “After rounding up the kids for the night, I told them, ‘Let’s go to sleep and put our cares in God’s hands.’”  One child spoke up saying, “Yeah, He’s up all night anyway.”

From time to time, we battle with worry and anxiety. Fears about our present situation or fears about some future event often creep into our thoughts. Worry and fears can paralyze us until we feel totally overwhelmed. One reason this happens is because we start to falter in faith and trust in God’s ability to take care of us.

At those times of worry, fear and anxiety, it is good to remind ourselves God is always on alert. He never sleeps. He never dozes off. He never takes a nap. He knows everything. He even knows what it is that we are worrying about or fearing. He is in charge of all things. Therefore, we do not need to be afraid. Instead we just need to trust in God’s ability to support us and take care of our concerns and needs.

Do we really believe God sees all and knows all? Do we really believe He is all powerful and in control? If we answer, “Yes,” then put your cares in His hands. Trust Him with whatever it is that’s keeping you awake at night. Worry is a burden God never meant for us to bear.

Next time you can’t sleep from worry, read Psalm 121:4-5, it says, “Indeed, the Protector of Israel does not slumber or sleep. The LORD protects you; the LORD is a shelter right by your side.”(CSB)  Cast all your cares upon Him, He’s up all night anyway! Have a good night sleep. — Tom
